Reform Coalition Independent · Ontario
About

What this is, and what it isn't.

Reform Coalition is an independent, member-run community for Ontario lawyers, paralegals, licensing candidates, and members of the public who have something to say about the Law Society of Ontario — the body that regulates the people who help Ontarians navigate the law.

Why this exists

The Law Society regulates more than 60,000 lawyers and paralegals. Decisions about competence, conduct, fees, education, and discipline get made on behalf of the licensees it governs and the public it claims to protect — but those two groups are rarely the ones at the table when those decisions get made.

This site is a place where they can be. Anyone can read. Members can comment, message, and organize.

The mission

To restore the Law Society of Ontario to what it should be: an institution that serves its licensees and the public, transparently, with restraint, and with a fair process. The case for this has been made for years by Ontario licensees writing publicly about the direction of the LSO — this site is an extension of that work, not a substitute for it.

We are independent of any candidate or campaign. We don't endorse anyone. We give people a place to talk, share information, and decide for themselves.

How we run things

  • Pseudonyms by default. Almost every account uses one. Your real name and email are private to you and the site administrator. Comments and messages display only your pseudonym.
  • Civil, not soft. Disagree, push back, name names where appropriate. No harassment, no doxxing, no threats. Beyond that, this is a free-speech community.
  • Communications stay on the site. Direct messages and group chats live here, in the dashboard. We don't share email addresses between members.
  • No surveillance products. No selling data, no third-party trackers in your messages.

Who runs it

The site is built and operated by an Ontario licensee/candidate. Day-to-day moderation is light. Account verification is on the honour system for now — pseudonyms are the point.
